CDHR Nigeria Elects New Leadership at 2025 Annual General Conference
Dr. Kehinde Prince Taiga Re-Elected as National President, Reaffirms Commitment to Human Rights and Justice
The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) Nigeria has successfully concluded its 2025 Annual General Conference (AGC) in Ogun State on Saturday, October 25, 2025, with the election of new national officers to lead the organization for the 2025–2027 term.
Comrade (Dr.) Ambassador Kehinde Prince Taiga was re-elected as the National President of CDHR, reaffirming the trust and confidence of members across the federation. Other elected officers include Comrade James Chibuzo Chikwendu as Vice President, Comrade Gerald O. Katchy as National General Secretary, Comrade Jude Adimekwe as Assistant General Secretary, Comrade Roy Olokungboye as National Treasurer, Comrade Godspower Ugah as National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Ibijoke Fajugba as National Legal Adviser, and Comrade Ifechigha Queen Chinazor as National Internal Auditor.
Themed “Upholding Human Rights in Turbulent Times,” the 2025 AGC brought together human rights defenders, legal luminaries, public officials, and activists from across Nigeria to deliberate on pressing national issues and chart a renewed course for the organization.
In his appreciation speech, Dr. Taiga expressed profound gratitude to members for their renewed confidence in his leadership, describing his re-election as “a call to renewed service and a reaffirmation of our shared vision.” He pledged to strengthen advocacy, enhance institutional reforms, and expand human rights awareness across the nation.

The conference was graced by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR), the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Olusegun Elenide, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Olusina Ogungbade (SAN), and the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Hon. Monsunmola Arinola. The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo (PhD), was also in attendance.
Emeritus President Comrade Sunny Enenuvwedia and other notable leaders such as Barr. Bankole Solomon commended the unity and resilience of members, urging the new leadership to remain steadfast in upholding CDHR’s core values of justice, equality, and accountability.

Delegates from various states, including Delta, Ogun, Lagos, Abuja, Niger, Rivers, Anambra, Kaduna, and Bayelsa, reaffirmed their commitment to the organization’s mission. The event underscored CDHR’s enduring relevance as Nigeria’s foremost grassroots human rights organization and its continuing role in defending the oppressed.
The re-election of Dr. Taiga and his team marks a renewed chapter for CDHR Nigeria—one anchored on unity, progress, and the relentless pursuit of justice for all citizens.
