Ambassador Oluwapelumi Receives Nigeria Forest Security Services Award, Pledges Drone Support

Ambassador Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi, President of the Societal Concerns Organisation and Editor-in-Chief of Societal Concerns Magazine, has been honoured by the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) with a meritorious award as the “Most Outstanding Supporter of Peace and Community Security” for her unwavering advocacy in support of national security and protection of security personnel.

The event, which brought together officers, stakeholders, and guests to celebrate dedication, professionalism, and outstanding contributions within Nigeria’s security architecture, was held at the National Stadium, Lagos, on Friday.

The NFSS leadership commended Ambassador Oluwapelumi for her sustained media campaigns and civic engagement that promote stronger collaboration between communities and security agencies.

A major highlight of the ceremony saw Ambassador Oluwapelumi joining the commandant and senior officers to decorate newly elevated officers of the service, recognising their dedication and service in safeguarding forests and rural communities.

In continuation of her unwavering support, Amb. Oluwapelumi announced a significant donation on behalf of the Societal Concerns Organisation to enhance the operational capacity of the NFSS. The support includes two surveillance drones and a training program for 60 officers, equipping them with the skills to operate drones for aerial surveillance, forest protection, and intelligence gathering.

She described the award as deeply humbling and emphasised the importance of technology in modern security operations. ‘’This initiative reflects our commitment to strengthening forest surveillance and ensuring that our security personnel are well-equipped to protect our communities and natural resources,” she said.

The ceremony also recognised Madam Chidinma, who received an award as Highest Security Tools Seller of the Year 2025 for her outstanding contribution to supplying critical security equipment to support operational effectiveness.

The ceremony was a call for continued synergy among civil society organisations, private sector stakeholders, and security institutions to further enhance forest protection, intelligence gathering, and national safety efforts.
