Delta Security: Police Nab Four, Recover AK-47, Victim’s Car Syndicate’s Operational Vehicle

The Delta State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its fight against violent crimes with the arrest of suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, alongside the recovery of dangerous weapons and stolen property.

Arrest of Suspected Kidnappers and Recovery of Victim’s Vehicle, Operational Vehicle, and Network Jammer

On 8th September 2025, at about 0130hrs, the Command received a distress call that a young man (name withheld) had been kidnapped from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku. After collecting a ransom of ₦2,000,000, the kidnappers shot the victim in the leg for “not providing enough money.”

The Commissioner of Police immediately deployed the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Squad led by CSP Godwin Osadolor. Acting swiftly, operatives stormed Ogwashi-Uku forest, rescued the victim, and launched an intelligence-driven operation that led to the arrest of:

  • Chukwuebuka Nka, male, 25yrs, of Nenwe in Aniri LGA, Enugu State
  • Uche Okechukwu, male, of Amaifeke in Orlu LGA, Imo State

The victim’s white Toyota Venza SUV was recovered from the suspects. Following further investigations, the team arrested another gang member, Somto Chukwuma, male, 18yrs, of Ihiala LGA, Anambra State, at their hideout in Agidiase Village, Ogwashi-Uku.

The suspects later led operatives to another hideout in Ogwashi-Uku, where their operational Toyota Matrix (Reg. No. RRT-331-AE) was recovered, along with a network jammer circuit device. All suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

Arrest of Suspected Armed Robbers and Recovery of AK-47 Rifle

On 12th September 2025, acting on intelligence, a team led by CSP Labe Joseph, DPO Ekpan, arrested two suspects, Elvis Ebroghro (36yrs) and Abiola Adegore (34yrs), both residents of Ometan.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects were involved in an attempted theft on 11th September 2025, during which they threatened to kill a community security guard, Abdullahi Mohammed, who confronted them.

A follow-up operation, based on Elvis Ebroghro’s confession, led to the arrest of another suspect, Lucky Ebroghro*m, and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle hidden in an isolated building within Ometan Community. Investigations are ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the operatives for their professionalism and resilience. He stressed that there will be “no safe haven for criminals in Delta State” and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks while restoring peace and safety across communities.
