Jakande Launches “JAKO JOLLOF” Free-Feeding Programme for Pupils in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye
The Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Lawal Jakande, has launched a landmark free-meal programme tagged “JAKO JOLLOF”, aimed at providing nutritious meals to pupils across all 28 public primary schools and the special school within the council area.
Speaking at the official launch, Hon. Jakande described the initiative as “an investment in the future of our children”, noting that proper nutrition enhances learning and academic performance.
The programme, which falls under the administration’s HEWA Agenda (Health, Education, and Welfare for All), will provide free, well-prepared meals every Friday, helping to improve pupil concentration, reduce hunger, and support educational development.
In a bid to empower the community, the LCDA trained local food vendors to handle meal preparation — a move that promotes small businesses and strengthens the local economy.
Hon. Jakande emphasized that the project is a long-term social investment, not a temporary relief measure, and called on parents, teachers, and community leaders to ensure its sustainability through collective support.
Since assuming office in July 2025, the chairman has continued the LCDA’s legacy of promoting education, following earlier efforts such as the distribution of free GCE forms to indigent students.
Residents have commended the JAKO JOLLOF initiative as a symbol of inclusive governance and a lifeline for struggling families, describing it as a step toward ensuring that every child in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye learns with dignity, health, and hope.
