Fubara Sacks All Commissioners, Public Officers in Rivers
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced the immediate dismissal of all commissioners and public officers serving under his administration.
The decision, conveyed in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, followed the recent Supreme Court judgment that directly impacted his government.
During a valedictory session with members of his cabinet at Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara thanked them for their dedication and service to the state over the last two years. He commended their role in driving development projects and urged citizens to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in building a peaceful and prosperous nation, especially as Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
“The governor highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s Independence, and called on all Nigerians to work together with Mr President to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous country and a brighter future for all,” the statement read.
Fubara assured Rivers people of his renewed commitment to serve with vigour while expressing gratitude for their continuous support.
The mass sack comes weeks after Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), who acted as interim administrator during Fubara’s earlier suspension, dissolved boards and suspended commissioners, special advisers, and heads of parastatals.
Since Ibas’ exit on September 18, the status of the cabinet had remained uncertain until Wednesday’s announcement.
