JUST IN: Tinubu Declares Bisi Yusuf Alimosho APC Leader, Succeeds Aregbesola
President Bola Tinubu has declared Honourable Adebisi Yusuff, popularly known as Bisi Yusuf, as the new political leader of Alimosho in Lagos State, effectively replacing former governor and minister, Rauf Aregbesola.
The announcement came in a birthday message from the president, in which he extolled Yusuf’s record as a grassroots mobilizer, financial expert, lawmaker, and humanitarian. Tinubu also praised him for rallying political support in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Yusuf, who represented Alimosho Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly for 12 years, also served as chairman of Ipaja/Ayobo Local Council Development Area. During his tenure in the assembly, he chaired key committees, including commerce and public accounts, earning recognition for his legislative contributions.
Analysts view Tinubu’s endorsement as a strategic political shift aimed at curbing the influence of his estranged ally, Aregbesola, in Lagos’ most populous local government. Once a formidable grassroots enforcer for Tinubu in Alimosho, Aregbesola has since emerged as national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a coalition positioning itself as a strong opposition force ahead of the 2027 elections.
For years, Yusuf was perceived as operating under Aregbesola’s shadow. By elevating him, Tinubu has repositioned a trusted loyalist to consolidate control in a critical stronghold that has historically shaped electoral outcomes in Lagos.
With Alimosho now a hotbed of political contest, control of the area is expected to play a decisive role in the 2027 elections as both the APC and ADC step up grassroots mobilization.
