Lagos Taskforce Arrests Robbery Suspects, Seals Criminal Hideouts in Mushin

The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested two members of a robbery gang responsible for stealing a vehicle in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, which they later abandoned along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after it broke down.

According to the Taskforce’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the suspects fled the scene on commercial motorcycles heading toward Lagos Island. They were intercepted by Taskforce officers on routine patrol at Obalende, who found their movements suspicious.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to robbing residents in Ago Iwoye before fleeing with the stolen vehicle.

Further investigations led Taskforce operatives to the suspects’ hideouts at New Supreme Hotel and Yemite Hotel, both located in Odiolowo, Mushin, where additional suspected criminals were apprehended. Following the operation, the hotels were sealed by the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce in compliance with state property laws.

The arrested suspects were subsequently arraigned in court, where they pleaded not guilty and were remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre until October 28, 2025, for further hearing.

Confirming the arrests, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Jimoh Moshood, had been fully briefed and assured of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State.

CP Moshood emphasized that the Command will continue working closely with sister security agencies to track down and prosecute criminal elements, warning that Lagos will remain a no-go area for crime and criminality.

CSP Akerele commended the Taskforce operatives for their alertness and professionalism, noting that their swift action prevented the suspects from escaping further into the metropolis. He reiterated the agency’s resolve to rid Lagos of criminal elements and maintain public safety.

Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects. All recovered items, including motorcycles, machetes, guns, pistols, and hard drugs, have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
