Nigeria at 65: Societal Concerns Calls for Renewed Hope, Collective Action
As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Societal Concerns Organization has urged citizens to embrace a renewed sense of hope, unity, and commitment to building a nation anchored on justice, inclusivity, and progress.
In a goodwill message signed by its President, Ambassador Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi, the organization congratulated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, describing the milestone as a reminder of the nation’s enduring resilience and the indomitable spirit of its people.
“Sixty-five years ago, our founding fathers envisioned a nation built on unity, freedom, justice, and prosperity. Today, while challenges remain, the resilience of our people continues to shine as a testament to the Nigerian spirit—undaunted, hopeful, and determined to thrive,” the statement read.
Societal Concerns emphasized that independence should not merely be remembered as a historical event, but as “a call to action: a call to renew our hope, strengthen our values, and work together towards a Nigeria where every citizen enjoys security, opportunity, and dignity.”
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to social justice, inclusivity, and sustainable development, while pledging to continue amplifying the voices of the vulnerable and celebrating change-makers across communities.
“As we celebrate this 65th anniversary, let us rekindle our belief in Nigeria. Let us rise above divisions and renew our commitment to building a nation where peace, equity, and progress are not ideals for tomorrow, but realities of today,” Ambassador Oluwapelumi stated.
The message concluded with a call on Nigerians to transform challenges into opportunities and to “walk boldly in the path of unity, hope, and nation-building.”
