Tincan Command Concludes Week-Long In-House Training for Senior Officers
The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has concluded a week-long in-house training programme aimed at enhancing the capacity and professionalism of its senior officers.
The training, held from October 13 to 17, 2025, at the Command’s premises, brought together officers from various units to strengthen core competencies and improve operational efficiency.
Declaring the programme open, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, underscored the importance of continuous learning and capacity building. He described the initiative as an investment in personnel development, urging participants to apply the knowledge gained to enhance service delivery.
Comptroller Onyeka also revealed that similar training sessions would soon be organized for junior officers to ensure all cadres benefit from the Command’s drive for improved efficiency and professionalism.
Resource persons drawn from within the Command facilitated sessions on key topics, including Physical Examination, Reputation and Risk Management, Evidence Exploitation, Customs Procedure Codes, VIN Valuation, Code of Conduct, and Customs Administration.
Participants commended the Command for the impactful initiative, noting that the sessions were practical and enlightening. Assistant Controller Rose Bonat of the Transire Unit described the training as “a laudable and forward-thinking initiative” that has broadened her understanding of modern customs practices.
The Command reiterated its commitment to building a highly skilled and proactive workforce capable of meeting the evolving challenges of modern customs operations.
