Wema Bank Plc has successfully completed the second tranche of its capital raise, securing full subscription for its ₦50 billion special placement, following the earlier ₦150 billion rights issue concluded in September 2025.

With this achievement, the Bank’s total qualifying capital now stands at ₦264.87 billion, surpassing the ₦200 billion minimum requirement set by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for commercial banks with national authorization.

Managing Director/CEO Mr. Moruf Oseni said the capital raise strengthens Wema Bank’s balance sheet, enhances liquidity, and positions it for sustainable growth.

He noted that proceeds will be used to boost the bank’s digital transformation, expand reach across retail, SME, and corporate sectors, and increase lending capacity to key areas of the economy.

Wema Bank reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and supporting Nigeria’s economic growth through inclusive financial services.
